Yes you read it right. All in all, 250 theatres are missing in Tollywood making it tough for the films that are getting releasing tomorrow. Provided with this happening, films might lose huge chunk of revenues as they dare to commit at box office with this deficit.
The onset of severe cyclonic storm Hudhud has severely affected the three northern Andhra districts of Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram. Apart from the property damages created by this calamity, uprooting of electric poles and disruption of electricity supply in this region are another major concern of worry. Barring a couple of theatres, none have got restored and according to leading distributor Suresh Babu, almost 250 theatres are lying vacant without power.
Even, there is no generator based supply of power as diesel supply got hit badly. Vizag seems to be a major are where film revenues are literally high. Uncaring for this non-availability of theatres, Naga Chaitanya’s Oka Laila Kosam is heading for a release tomorrow. Let us see how trade circuits are going to respond about this happening.
Trade: No-stopping for Baahubali-2
The second installment of Baahubali can’t seem to have downward graph in terms of box-office collections, even after first day. Since the time this movie lighted screens on 28th April, it’s only breaking and re-writing all existing records that any Indian film has created. Remarkably, there is absolutely no downfall in occupancy & collections on day-2 as well.
While the four versions of film grossed more than 150 Crore on day-1 and USD2.5 million through Thursday premieres, the historic film oversaw a massive jump on Day-2. In US, Baahubali: The Conclusion raked in USD 3500K+ on Saturday and takes the total to USD 8.16 million (INR 52.5+ Crores).
And the domestic numbers, for two days, of Telugu version are listed below:
Nizam – 14.3 Crore
Ceded – 9.15 Crore
Nellore – 2.62 Crore
Guntur – 7.40 Crore
Krishna – 3.98 Crore
West – 6.73 Crore
East – 7.29 Crore
Uttharandhra – 6.92 Crore
The cumulative shares in AP & TG – 58.38 Crore. On second day itself, the Telugu version collects a 15 Crore share to create a non-release day record. I.e Highest by a margin of almost 5 Crore.
If you’re surprised with these stats, get ready to witness the storm on day-3 as well. On Sunday, Baahubali-2 is expected to mint much more than day-2 and there’s no break for house-full boards.
