1,000Cr Investment in Non-Rajamouli Mahabharata!

Rajamouli Mahabarath

A UAE-based Indian billionaire, BR Shetty has come forward to produce the epic ‘Mahabharata’ movie with a budget of Rs 1,000 crore (USD 150 million). And, this film will not be directed by SS Rajamouli.
As the ‘Baahubali’ director has recently confessed to have been hatching the dream of filming ‘Mahabharata’, a noted ad filmmaker, V A Shrikumar Menon, who has been planning to bring Mahabharata onto screen for many years, has reportedly intensified his search and finally found an investor in the form of Shetty.

The epic film will be produced in two parts and is scheduled to go on floors by September 2018. The first part will release in early 2020 and the second will be released 90 days later. It will be shot primarily in English, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu and will be dubbed into other major Indian languages and leading foreign languages, said an official release from the makers.

The cast would have some big named from India as well as Hollywood. The technical crew would also comprise some of the great names in world cinema including a few Academy Award winners.

M T Vasudevan Nair, the Jnanpeeth Award winning novelist who penned ‘Randamoozham’ (The Second Turn), which narrates the Mahabharata through the eyes of Bhima, has reportedly penned the screenplay.
