NRI Madhavi Shows Big Heart On AP Village

Pedapulipaka in Krishna district, AP has become the first village in the country where all of its residents are covered under medical insurance. Texas-based Telugu woman Madhavi Medi is the big-hearted person to sponsor annual insurance coverage for residents of this village.

Talking about what inspired her to take up this noble cause, Ms. Medi revealed that a year ago her father recovered from a near-death encounter thanks to the standards of hospitals and doctors in the US.

“I wanted to provide the same level of care to one and all in my village. Having been exposed to the health insurance system in the U.S., which assures quality care for all, I believe buying health insurance for everyone is the easiest way to reach that goal,” added Ms. Medi.

She said that she discussed her idea with Ravikumar Vemuru, CEO of the Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRT) with a hope that more Telugu NRIs would come forward to buy health insurance for people of their respective villages.
