Exclusive Interview with Baahubali and Bajrangi Bhaijaan writer Vijayendra Prasad

Rajamouli Proved About Festivals And Khans

If a film has to get mind blowing openings, definitely it needs to release on a holiday, either a Diwali or Eid, and it also needs to have a Khan as the hero. That’s the notion for now in Bollywood and only Akshay Kumar tried to breach this couple of times. But move on folks.
When the likes of “Dangal” and “Sultan” have collected a terrific Day One collection close to 29+ and 36+ crores ‘nett’ respectively after nearly releasing in 15 states, now Baahubali has beaten this notion. Just in two Telugu states, the film collected more than 42+ crores share and throughout India, it touched upto 70 crores.

Commenting on the same, noted director Ram Gopal Varma tweeted, “No Eid.No Diwali. No Salman. No Aamir No Sharukh n still dub film #Baahubali2 opens biggest in History.. @ssrajamouli slaps the face of Bollywood”. That’s true, not because Varma tweeted, but it happened.

Even Bollywood experts have felt stunned with the kind of openings Baahubali has taken. Probably Rajamouli proved once again that a film becomes bigger through ‘content’ not through holidays and Khans.
