Bhuma Nagi Reddy Passed Away
TDP MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy died on Sunday after suffering from massive cardiac arrest. After suffering heart attack in the wee hours, Bhuma was first admitted to a hospital in Allagadda and was later shifted to a hospital in Nandyala for better treatment. Despite severe attempts to treat him, Bhuma succumbed to it and he was declared dead by doctors at around 12.15 PM. He was a senior politician in Rayalaseema region with large follower base. He was 53 years old. He had suffered heart attack twice earlier. He had also underwent bypass surgery. This was his third and final heart stroke.
Bhuma had met AP CM and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu only on Saturday with his supporters about MLC elections. Bhuma suffered severe stroke on Sunday morning while returning from Ahobilam to Allagadda. Along with daughters and relatives, Bhuma went to visit Ahobilam temple and he said to had suffered stroke after returning in car. While doctors said he was brought in critical condition, Chandrababu Naidu had spoken to Kurnool district collector about his condition and even directed him to arrange a helicopter to shift him to Hyderabad for better medical facilities if possible. But in between, Bhuma was declared dead by 12.15 PM.
Born on 8 January 1964, Bhuma entered into politics in 1984. He had quickly rose into politics. He was elected in by-election to Allagadda assembly constituency in 1992 following the sudden death of his brother Bhuma Sekhar Reddy, then a sitting MLA from Allagadda.
In 1996 he hogged the limelight after he was chosen as TDP candidate to contest against the then prime minister PV Narasimha Rao in the election to Nandyal Lok Sabha constituency. He was a Lok Sabha member for three consecutive terms serving in 11th, 12th and 13th Lok Sabha. He was married to Bhuma Shobha Nagireddy, daughter of SV Subbareddy.
His wife and former MLA Bhuma Shoba Nagi Reddy died three years ago in a road accident. He is survived by son and two daughters. While elder daughter Bhuma Akhila Priya is MLA of Allagadda, his younger daughter Bhuma Mounika was recently married.
Bhuma’s last rights will take place tomorrow in Allagadda where his wife was Shoba Nagi Reddy’s last rights were performed. His final rites would be performed with complete state honours.
