Young and talented cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara has displayed a spectacular performance by scoring 202 runs from 525 balls in the third test match against Australia.
In doing so, Pujara went on to surpass ‘The Wall’ Rahul Dravid’s record of playing 495 balls in his way to score 270 runs against Pakistan in 2004, and also becomes the ‘batsman playing highest number of balls in a single test innings’ for India.
Interestingly, not even a single six was hit by Pujara in this marathon.
Throughout the innings, he exhibited sheer patience while batting and continued to embarrass team Australia. Pujara also registered a record partnership of 199-runs for seventh wicket with Wriddhiman Saha. Before Kohli men decided to declare the innings, Australia bowled 210 overs. The last time the Australians bowled more than 200 overs was in 1994.
This one innings saved the result of the match, eventually the series for India from slipping the cup into the hands of Australia.
