The Kansas city of the United States has declared March 16 as “Indian American Appreciation Day” as a tribute to the slain Indian techie Srinivas Kuchibhotla who was killed in an apparent hate crime last month in Olathe city in Hyderabad. The Governor of the Kansas has declared that Kansas will do Indian American Appreciation Day.
Kuchibhotla, (32), was killed and his friend Alok Madasani was injured on February 22 after when Adam W. Purinton, a white man opened the fire, shot them at a famous pub joint in Olathe. Kuchibhotla belonged to Hyderabad and his colleague Madasani is from Warangal district in Telangana.
“Kansas will remain committed to standing with the Indian community,” Kansas Governor Sam Brownback said on Thursday before commemorate the life of Kuchibhotla.
