It’s pretty usual in India that people do approach private hospitals to undergo delivery at the time of pregnancy. Though it is an expensive affair, people from all quarters -lower middle class to upper class including officers in service, MLAs and Ministers- tend do have their child at private hospitals only.
But let us introduce you to Akunuri Murali, an inspirational Collector of Bhupalapalli district who knocked the doors of a govt hospital and joined his pregnant daughter for a delivery. Reportedly, the senior IAS officer admitted her daughter at Mulugu public hospital and set an example to locals.
Although doctors warned him about her ‘critical condition’ due to thyroid problem, officer Murali vehemently denied them. Leaving aside the costly clinics in state capital Hyderabad, he chose a rural government centre to build a confidence of public medical centers among common people.
The operation was successfully performed under the supervision of DMHO Ayyappa and hospital superintendent Gopal. The doctors also confirmed that both mother and baby are doing fine. Happy with the news, Collector Murali shared his contentment with media.
Murali’s daughter Pragathi, who gave birth to a healthy girl child through caesarean method at 3:30PM yesterday, was married a Hyderabad based Pradeep.
