As the two bifurcated groups of AIADMK is set for merger, the party’s interim general secretary VK Sasikala is penetrating into deeper trouble. Sasikala, friend and aide of former CM Jayalalitha, is currently serving four-year jail term at Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in Bengaluru after she was found guilty of corruption by the Supreme Court.
After a bunch of allegations by former DIG (Prisons) Rolland about special treatment to Sasikala in central jail, the Karanataka State government appointed a retired IAS officer Vinay Kumar to investigate into her accusations and a fresh video surfaced on Internet which is cementing her argument. A video showing Sasikala and her relative Ilavarasi walking into the jail in civil clothes reveal that two convicts have walked out of jail for sometime.
The CCTV footage, that was in the prison database, further show that a woman SP has escorted them into jail and Sasikala was carrying a bag along with her. Roopa has submitted the video to the committee investigating it and she says ‘it (the special treatment) is an abuse of official position and a punishable offense under section 13(1)(c) of the prevention of corruption Act.’
The government has recently transferred Roopa and shifted the jail superintendent Krishna Kumar which stirred a controversy and backlash from opposition party (BJP) in Karnataka. Soon, the government has appointed retired IAS official to investigate into the violation of prison rules. Roopa, in her report submitted to Vinay Kumar, said that two crores has been offered by the convict to get specially treated in jail.
Now, the video of Sasikala walking into jail with a bag is going viral on social media and netizens are demanding a quick and final report from Vinay Kumar committee.
