EC Cracks Whip, Scraps RK Nagar By Election
The Election Commission of India has cracked its whip. Amidst reports of large amounts of money distribution by politicians in Tamil Nadu and it’s followed by the I-T raids, the EC has decides to scrap the by-election recently held in RK Nagar, the constituency of ex CM Jayalalithaa who died of illness in December 2016. The EC said that the bypoll is deferred until further notice.
The preliminary results of Income Tax search and seizure actions:
1. Cash of Rs 5 crore was seized from the confidantes of former minister Dr C Vijaya Baskar and from his native place.
2. Incriminating documents in the form of overall money distribution chart to several leading political executives and functionaries totaling to Rs 89 crore was found from the premises of Dr C Vijaya Baskar.
3. Further distribution charts, ward-wise and voter-wie, entrusted to each of these politician totaling to Rs 89 crore was found and seized from the room allotted to Dr Vijaya Baskar in the MLA’s house.
4. Further, a lot of incriminating material including voters list marking against each voter either DMK or AIADMK and ammount to be paid and paid in some cases, were also found and seized.
On these grounds, the EC said that the RK Nagar Assembly constituency to elect a member to the Legislative Assembly shall stand rescinded. It said it has decided to scrap the already concluded bypoll and decided to conduct a new one after further notice.
Responding to the EC’s decision, TTV Dinakaran who is contesting in RK Nagar bypoll from AIADMK led by VK Sasikala and E Palaniswamy, he made sensational statement that EC doesn’t want him to win. He said that EC can delay but it can’t deny.
