Caught in Corruption: 100 Crs Assets for AP Engineer
The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Saturday conducted a series of raids on the assets of AP’s Roads & Buildings (R&B) chief engineer Gangadharam. The raids are being conducted at a time on Gangadharam’s properties and his relatives houses.
Acting on the tip off after his alleged role in the illegalities during the laying of four-way road in Bheemili near Visakhapatnam, the ACB officials have conducted raids on Gangadharam. The raids are conducted simultaneously in Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Bangalore, Kadapa, Nellore, Chittoor, Visakhapatnam cities. It’s said that the raids are conducted simultaneously at 20 locations. And this is said to be one of the major raids in the recent times.
According to media reports, the assets of Gangadharam would be over 100 Crore. So far, there’s no official announcement yet. And raids are still continuing and the illegal assets count is expected to increase.
Meanwhile, the raids are also being conducted at contractor Visweswara Rao who’s allegedly acting as Gangadharam’s benami. Visweswara Rao claimed innocence and alleged that someone had wrongly involved him into the issue and stated that he neither has direct transactions nor indirect transactions with Gangadharam.
He claimed that he isn’t benami to anyone and said that his relationship with Gangadharam was limited to the office and contracts.
