Rajamouli, India’s James Cameron?
With magnum opus Baahubali : The Conclusion grossing 201 Crore world-wide on its very first day and gave a great shock to B-town stars and filmmakers, trade is now expecting that the Hindi dubbed version of Baahubali : The Conclusion alone would rake in over Rs 500 Crore and the full run collections of all three languages Telugu, Tamil and Hindi would be over 1000 Crore.
This naturally puts director SS Rajamouli above all others for this unique and unbelievable feat of a regional film grossing ground-breaking figures. And needless to say that he is easily one of the most sought after filmmaker in India presently.
As Baahubali films – both part 1 (The Beginning) & part 2 (The Conclusion) – are now touted as India’s answer to Hollywood and heaped in praises for giving an experience like Hollywood classics like Ben-Hur and 10 Commandments, it eventually giving rise to the comparisons of Rajamouli with the top Hollywood filmmakers like James Cameron (of Avatar fame), and Steven Spielberg (who directed classics like Jurassic Park). Especially, the special visual effects (VFX), Computer Graphics (CGI) and Rajamouli’s vision are the major factors that are setting ground for Hollywood comparison.
Several leading critics, film historians and senior journalists have already made this observation by now. And now this statement is gaining momentum and growing louder with each passing show of the film that is witnessing a Box Office ablaze.
Probably, Rajamouli would get a special place in History as a Telugu filmmaker for this huge accomplishment. Certainly a proud moment for all Telugus and Telugu Cinema.
